FNLC - is really in the formative stage.
The whole concept is a collaboration between local churches and individuals who are very committed to seeing the love of Jesus reach into our often very broken lives. It's about being able to get together and grow our relationship with God and then with each other in the nurishing setting of the Word of God preached and taught in practical healing for the soul.
At this stage the formal organization has begun with setting up an administrative board and is also building a "Task Group" to provide input and volunteer corodination. (Those chosen and volunteer will be annouced in the near future.)
The desire is to have a wide representation of people groups, bands of various tribal grouping. We believe it is possible as First Nation Peoples to lead our whole nation back to One and True God, before Whom on the Great and Final Judgement Day (Revelation 20:11-14) we, who have put our trust in Jesus Christ will stand dressed in pure white (Revelation 7:9) - the garment of the righteousness of Jesus Christ provided as a free gift to each believer. It is given individually without respect of our language or tribe, and given without distinction or merit of our own. Through faith in what Jesus did for us, all peoples, tribes and nations, will stand on the level ground of forgiveness and love before the Almight God.
There is a fundamental concept that allows the First Nation Peoples an advantage in carrying forward this message. It is in the cultural acceptance of the advice and leadership of the elders. This is consistent with the Biblical instructions of the fathers teaching their children the ways of God. Culture and traditions are worthy of being transmitted to the next generations -but to convey the truths of Jesus Christ to our next generation is to give them God's gift of Eternal Life.
There is a crying need to recognize our local spiritual leadership. So many times people have said, "I didn't know of any others who are followers of Jesus." One of the goals of FNLC is to reduce that gap and bring the younger genarations into better connection with those who have proven with their lives the daily reality of God.
The first and most important contribution you can make is asking in prayer that God will bless the efforts of our volunteers. Prayer becomes an opportunity to sense the heart of God. It opens the door to thank and worship God when we see answers in the lives of our loved ones.
A Second contribution is to put forward the name(s) of individuals that have helped you in your journey with Jesus Christ. It would be the ones who first told you about Jesus and have encouraged you along the way. The faithful example of these individuals and the possibility for others, especially today's youth being able to connect with and communicate with these anchors of the Faith. We live in a technical world so different than it used to be, but we hope to set up "chat groups" for the youth to have healthy first hand conversations, where these Spiritual Elders will then become a vital part of their lives and decision making.
Thirdly: if you have even a small amount of cash that you'd like to donate to cover costs, there will be ways openned up to donate towards the collective efforts of what is being named as the FIRST NATIONS LEADERSHIP CONVENTIONS. The plan is that these conference type gatherings will become a regular part of our lives. A place to build healthy friendships. A place to learn about God. A place and events to learn how to live with honour and respect because of the incredible gift of love of Jesus that has offered us forgiveness and a Home forever.
Wouldn't it be something to be able to look forward to a full week each summer, just to get together, to build memories and be encouraged and strengthened. The idea is of food and fun with new and old friends, but more than that to grow in our personal relationship with Jesus.
